Reader’s view: Support relief for credit unions, small community banks

As you might have heard, the U.S. Senate recently passed a bipartisan financial regulatory relief bill, S. 2155. We are pleased to say the bill received the support of Michigan’s two U.S. Senators — Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow. This legislation will provide much needed and long overdue relief to credit unions and small community banks. These types of financial institutions did not play a role in the 2008 economic collapse but were still lumped in with the megabanks that caused the collapse under the Dodd-Frank Act and the regulations that followed.
